Welcome to Lightwork Therapy

At Lightwork Therapy, we understand that each person's journey is unique. Our practice is dedicated to providing person-centered therapy and EMDR therapy, empowering our clients to rediscover their inner strength and achieve lasting healing.

What is Person-Centered Therapy?
Person-Centered Therapy, also known as client-centered therapy, places the individual at the heart of the therapeutic process. We believe that every person has the inherent capacity for growth and self-actualization. Our person-centered therapists create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can feel heard, valued, and understood. By building a strong therapeutic alliance, we foster a deep sense of trust and collaboration, allowing clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace. Together, we work towards unlocking their inner potential and facilitating personal growth.

What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a highly effective approach for processing and healing traumatic memories. EMDR therapy integrates elements from various therapeutic orientations, including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and somatic approaches, to address the impact of trauma. By utilizing bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or sounds, our trained EMDR therapists guide clients through a systematic process that allows for the reprocessing of traumatic memories. This innovative therapy has shown significant success in alleviating distress, reducing the impact of traumatic experiences, and restoring emotional well-being.

Why are you called “Lightwork” Therapy?

The term lightwork is firstly a nod to our practice’s roots in providing EMDR therapy. In our in-person EMDR sessions, we use a light bar that the client follows with their eyes. Lightwork partially refers to this. Our group founder Miranda has a deep connection with the term “lightwork” itself. Specifically the definition of “lightworker” as someone who “transmutes darkness into light”. As therapists, helping those who have experienced “darkness” find light in their lives is the foundation of our work. It’s worth noting that our therapy practice is not based on spirituality or religion and we welcome those from all spiritual orientations. Lightwork is for everyone.
